Deal Robin uses a combination of automated systems and manual checks to discover and organise deals from UK retailers.
The purpose of the website is to make current offers easier to find by bringing deal information together and presenting it in a consistent format.
Step 1: A potential deal is discovered
A potential deal may be found through:
- a retailer website
- a public deal feed
- a social-media post
- a deal-sharing account
- a product promotion
- a submission from a Money Robin follower
- another publicly available source
The source may include details such as the product name, retailer, current price, previous price, voucher code and product link.
Step 2: The product link is checked
Where possible, the product link is resolved to a clean retailer URL.
For Amazon products, for example, Deal Robin may identify the relevant Amazon Standard Identification Number, commonly known as an ASIN, and create a consistent Amazon product link.
Resolving the product correctly helps prevent the same item from being listed repeatedly under several shortened or tracking URLs.
Step 3: The available offer is processed
The system reviews the available information to identify:
- the product
- the retailer
- the current price
- any previous price
- the type of promotion
- any required voucher code
- whether the offer appears sufficiently clear
- whether the same product has recently been featured
Not every source provides the same level of information. In some cases, Deal Robin may be able to verify the product page directly. In other cases, the available price may come from a deal source when the retailer page cannot be retrieved reliably.
Where this happens, the deal page should make clear that prices and availability must be checked with the retailer.
Step 4: The deal is classified
Approved deals are organised using relevant website taxonomies.
These may include:
- retailer
- main deal category
- brand
- product type
For example, a handheld vacuum deal might appear under:
- Retailer: Amazon
- Category: Home
- Brand: JML
- Product type: Handheld Vacuums
Step 5: Deal information is prepared
A deal page may contain:
- a clear product title
- the current deal price
- product information
- key features
- frequently asked questions
- a direct retailer link
- voucher instructions
- a price-change disclaimer
- the appropriate retailer, category, brand and product-type links
Automated content may be used to organise available product information into a readable format. It should not be treated as a substitute for the retailer’s official product description or terms.
The retailer’s page remains the final source for specifications, stock, delivery information and purchase conditions.
Step 6: The deal is published
Once the required information has been prepared, the deal may be published on DealRobin.co.uk.
New deals may also be shared through Money Robin’s social channels, depending on the product category and the publishing rules in place at the time.
Deal Robin and Money Robin serve different purposes:
- Deal Robin provides the structured website listing.
- Money Robin provides the broader brand, social presence and community activity.
Duplicate and repeated deals
The same product may be promoted more than once over time.
A repeated product is not always a duplicate in the practical sense. Retailers may reintroduce an offer, change its price, add a new voucher or promote it again after an earlier deal has ended.
Deal Robin may therefore reconsider a product when:
- a new source post identifies the offer
- the previous feature was sufficiently long ago
- the promotion has become relevant again
- a new voucher or discount is available
- the current offer can be identified clearly
The aim is to avoid unnecessary repeated listings while still allowing genuinely renewed deals to appear.
What happens when a deal expires?
A deal may no longer be available because:
- the retailer has changed the price
- stock has sold out
- the voucher has expired
- the promotion has ended
- the relevant product variation is no longer included
- the marketplace seller has changed
Where an expired offer is identified, Deal Robin may update its status or remove it from prominent deal listings.
However, there can be a delay between a retailer changing an offer and Deal Robin detecting that change. Always verify the latest price on the retailer’s website.
Manual review
Some deals require a person to review them before publication.
Manual review may be needed where:
- the product identity is unclear
- the price cannot be interpreted confidently
- the retailer link is incomplete
- the promotion requires several steps
- a voucher instruction is ambiguous
- the product category is uncertain
- the image or description appears inconsistent
- the deal appears to duplicate an existing listing
Manual review helps reduce incorrect listings, but it does not guarantee that a retailer will maintain the offer after publication.
Corrections and reports
Visitors can report a deal that appears incorrect, expired or unavailable.
When reporting an issue, please include:
- the Deal Robin page URL
- the product name
- the retailer
- the price currently displayed by the retailer
- a brief explanation of the problem
This gives us enough information to investigate the listing more efficiently.
